An Experimental Investigation on Bending and Wear Behaviour of Hollow Aluminium Pipes of Rectangular Cross-Section at Different Strain Rates
摘要
This paper examines the bending and wear behaviour of hollow aluminium alloy pipes of rectangular cross-section. Three-point bending tests were conducted at various strain rates (0.001, 0.01, and 0.1 s−1) and various span lengths (100, 120, and 140 mm) on a universal testing machine to understand the bending behaviour of the hollow pipes. The wear behaviour of the pipes was analysed under three different speeds (200, 300, and 400 rpm) at constant load of 20 N on a pin-on-disc machine. It is found that the bending strength of the pipe is sensitive to the strain rate and the specimen geometrical aspect. Also, the wear and friction characteristics of the rectangular pipe change with varying speeds.
