Land cover changes over time due to the increasing demand for land. Land change is a phenomenon caused by human activities that change land functions. JJLS is a road built to encourage the economy in the southern region of Java. JJLS is one example of land cover change from non-built to built. The study aims to determine the trend of land cover change, land cover in Southern Cross Road Kulonprogo - Bantul, as well as to determine land cover change from 2003–2013 and 2013–2023 in Southern Cross Road Kulonprogo - Bantul. The method used to determine the area and land cover change is using Normalized Difference built-up index (NDBI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) analysis, the analysis in the research uses descriptive quantitative analysis. The data used in the research are Landsat 7 and 8 images from the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform processing. The research is located in JJLS Kulonprogo and Bantul regencies. From the research, the results of the NDBI value trend increased while the NDVI trend decreased, there was a change in land cover in the South Cross Road (JJLS) Kulonprogo - Bantul from 2003–2023.
