Investigation on the Method of Vibration Analysis of a Shrouded Fan Blade

Shrouded structures are widely employed in the fan blade vibration suppression. However, the vibration analysis method for shrouded fan blade is still not clear for engineering practise. In this paper, three boundary conditions of the shrouded fan blade were investigated to achieve accurate vibration characteristics. The single-blade model, shroud-cutting single-blade model, and the shroud-cutting blade-disc model were established and studied to obtain the frequencies of the blade. The achieved frequencies were compared and analyzed. Results show that the shroud-cutting blade-disc model would provide higher frequency due to the higher stiffness. It is more accurate since the contact behaviour of the adjacent blades were strong and nonlinear. Finally, the strain gauges were mounted and the dynamic stress as well as the blade frequencies. Results show that the simulation results were in good consistent with experimental results.
