Coherent Manipulations of Nuclear Spin and Optical Clock Qubits in Ytterbium Atoms

This chapter outlines the coherent manipulation of qubits in ytterbium atoms. First, we provide an overview of the fundamental properties of nuclear spin qubits in \( ^{171}{\textrm{Yb}}\) and present experimental results, including initialization, readout, and Raman sideband cooling. Subsequently, we focus on optical clock qubits in \( ^{174}{\textrm{Yb}}\) , highlighting the observation of coherent Rabi oscillations and the Ramsey interference experiment on the optical qubits.
