This chapter introduces the rapidly evolving field of neutral atoms in optical tweezers, a platform that has become central to quantum science and technology. First, we review the history and recent advancements of atom tweezer array systems. Next, we highlight the advantages of alkaline-earth(-like) atoms for quantum computing applications. Finally, we outline the main topics and structure of this thesis.
