Investigating Greenwashing in Corporate Sustainable Reporting
摘要
Greenwashing has become a significant concern in the realm of corporate sustainability reporting, as companies increasingly adopt misleading tactics to create an illusion of environmental responsibility. By projecting a façade of sustainability, these firms obscure their actual unsustainable practices, ultimately misleading stakeholders and undermining genuine environmental and social initiatives. This misleading approach not only slows down the progress of genuinely responsible businesses but also undermines the credibility of overall sustainability reporting. This chapter inspects the current regulatory environment, pinpointing the weaknesses that allow greenwashing to thrive and proposing strategies for businesses, consumers, and regulators to address these issues. The primary objectives of the suggestions are to foster responsibility, transparency, and backing for genuine sustainability initiatives in corporate reporting.
