We Reconstruct the Places of Construction of Communities
摘要
This chapter explores the collective processes of material and symbolic reconstruction that unfolded following the occupation of abandoned buildings in Naples and their transformation into Liberated Spaces. As soon as these spaces were reclaimed, communities of inhabitants initiated collective acts of repair, refurbishment, and adaptation. The chapter focuses on the intertwined dimensions of physical, memorial, and communities reconstruction. Far from being mere renovation efforts, these works became acts of spatial and historical reappropriation, reconfiguring the spaces to meet the evolving needs of their inhabitants. Through self-construction and shared labour, new alliances and communities were formed—and with them, new subjectivities emerged, referred to here as abitanti attive. These processes also enabled the experimentation with new organisational models for social movements.
