This chapter examines the bidirectional relationship between education and mental health related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in South Asia. Through an analysis of national and regional policies, health and availability of education data, and mental health services, the chapter highlights systemic obstacles, including the treatment gap, resource limitations, and inadequate policy prioritization. Governmental and non-governmental interventions across South Asian countries are evaluated. Despite some promising national initiatives and grassroots innovations, overall progress toward inclusive, sustainable development of mental health is fragmented and uneven. The chapter also highlights significant research gaps and the absence of standardized indicators of mental health and educational frameworks aligned with the SDGs. Recommendations emphasize the need for multisectoral collaboration, culturally adapted community-based care models, digital mental health innovations, and stronger policy integration. Without strategic, inclusive, and evidence-based actions, South Asia risks laggard in achieving mental health and educational equity, thus compromising wider sustainable development outcomes.
