Arthroscopy is the culmination of the Greek words “arthro” (joint) and “skopein” (to look). It is a minimally invasive approach to the joint for diagnosis as well as therapeutics, which has revolutionized orthopedic surgeries decreasing patient morbidities while expanding our horizons. During the past decades, improvements in lens systems and fiber optics have enabled us to make miniaturized scopes and instruments, making arthroscopy possible for virtually all joints including endoscopy in spine surgeries. The aim of this chapter is to provide students with an insight into the ever-expanding world residing inside the small confines of our joints.
