Spina bifida is a congenital condition characterized by the incomplete development of the spinal cord, spinal column, or both during early fetal development. “Spina bifida” is a Latin term which literally means “split spine,” and it encompasses a spectrum of neural tube defects that can vary widely in severity. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of spina bifida, including its causes, types, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and the impact on individuals and their families. The management of spina bifida patients with symptoms is difficult and requries the same to be planned in a multidisciplinary approach.
