Shaft of humerus fractures constitute 3–5% of all adult fractures. It has a bimodal age distribution, caused by high energy trauma in young patients and low energy trauma in elderly osteoporotic bones. It is a diaphyseal fracture which can usually be managed conservatively with some impetus on maintaining alignment.
