Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious disease characterized by repetitive narrowing of the upper airway and cessation of airflow during sleep. The prevalence of pediatric OSA in general population ranged from 0.7% to 13.0%. Children with OSA have symptoms such as snoring, observed apnea, mouth breathing, hyperactivity, excessive daytime sleepiness, and learning problems. Overnight attended polysomnography is the gold standard for diagnosing pediatric OSA. Adenotonsillectomy is an effective first-line treatment for pediatric OSA. Pediatric OSA-related morbidities include increased cardiometabolic risk, impact of neurocognition and behavior, and impaired somatic growth that may be mitigated by proper managements. Recent advancements in imaging modality, home sleep apnea test, therapeutic approach, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence facilitate diagnosis and treatment of OSA in children.
