Optimal outcomes in the perioperative period require a multidisciplinary effort from the surgical, anesthesiology and critical care, and hepatology service teams. In this chapter, we aim to look specifically at the anesthetic considerations for adult liver transplantation. We will discuss the importance of a dedicated liver transplant anesthesia team, basic considerations of intraoperative management, complications that may be encountered, and postoperative considerations.
