Thermal Analysis of Polymers

In this chapter, we shall discuss the response of a polymer to temperature variation. This chapter will cover thermal characterization techniques such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), Dilatometry, Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT), Vicat Softening Point, and Melt Flow Index (MFI). This chapter will provide information related to the thermal transition of a polymer, % crystallinity, thermal stability, degradation kinetics, and variation in dynamic properties of a polymer with temperature.
