Utilizing catalyst support for ceramic membranes (CMs) in wastewater filtration represents a promising strategy for enhancing filtration efficiency. Integrating catalysts into CMs has many advantages, including heightened chemical reactions and reaction sites, increased reaction activity, expanded surface area, enhanced thermal stability, improved mechanical strength, and augmented interaction between wastewater and the membrane. Nevertheless, this method has certain drawbacks, such as high costs, limited chemical resistance, and catalyst contamination and recovery challenges. This chapter also provides a comprehensive assessment of catalytic ceramic membranes (CCMs) in removing organic pollutants from wastewater, emphasizing the pivotal role of this technology in tackling environmental challenges. Furthermore, the research investigates the influence of various factors on membrane performance. It proposes prospects and market trends for further exploration, underscoring the significance of CCMs in offering potential solutions for wastewater treatment and environmental preservation.
