Terahertz Based D-shaped Photonic Crystal Fiber for Breast Cancer Detection
摘要
The article introduces a novel approach involving a dual-core photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF) with a hexagonal lattice for the early detection of breast cancer utilizing the refractive index (R.I.) of normal and cancer cells within the terahertz (THz) frequency range. The proposed DC-PCF design incorporates a central elliptical hole, marginally smaller than surrounding air holes, to enable the infiltration of liquid samples containing normal and cancer cell at concentrations of 80% and 30–70%, respectively. The proposed sensor exhibits a maximum sensitivity of 885,714.28 nm/RIU, as determined by the shift observed in the transmitted spectrum. Offering a simple detection methodology, the proposed DC-PCF sensor presents a promising, cost-effective solution for early detection of breast cancer.
