摘要

This chapter focuses on industrial and civil engineering in permafrost regions, where negative-temperature foundation soil containing ice leads to engineering problems of frost heaving and thaw settlement. It elaborates on critical design links including site selection and building plane layout. The chapter proposes three frozen soil foundation design principles based on permafrost conditions, and expounds key design elements such as ground temperature regulation, thawing and freezing depth calculation, and foundation stability analysis. It also details common foundation types, special cooling systems for maintaining foundation thermal stability, and comprehensive anti-frost heaving measures. Finally, it puts forward targeted anti-thaw settlement methods and composite measures, aiming to ensure the long-term structural stability of construction engineering in frozen soil areas.
