Exploring Filipino Senior High School Students’ Digital Competencies in Technology-Driven Classrooms
摘要
This study explored the digital competency levels among Filipino senior high school students utilizing Covello’s digital literacy framework, which encompasses information, communication, technological, computer, visual, and media literacy. Using a quantitative descriptive-comparative design, data were gathered from 367 Filipino senior high school students. Results indicate that senior high school students generally possess a high level of digital competency. No significant differences were found in competency levels when grouped by grade level and academic track, suggesting uniform access and exposure to digital learning tools. However, significant differences emerged across socio-economic groups in media, visual, and computer literacy, with middle-income students demonstrating the highest proficiency. These findings highlight the importance of sustaining digital literacy initiatives across all academic strands and emphasize the need for equity-focused interventions to bridge gaps in digital competency shaped by socio-economic inequalities.
