Single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE) is easier to prepare and perform because it uses only one balloon. CO2 and transparent cap may be helpful for deep insertion of the small bowel during SBE. The infusion of a radiocontrast agent can be used to guide the direction of insertion of the SBE. It is beneficial to insert the endoscope into the deep small bowel by making a loop in a counter-clockwise direction. If insertion of the SBE is difficult, it may be helpful to have a change in body position or use of the compression method.
