This chapter outlines the methods, including study designs and statistical methods (e.g., regression analysis, propensity score analysis, instrumental variable analysis, difference-in-differences analysis, regression discontinuity design, interrupted time series analysis) and data sources available for health services research, such as the insurance claims databases. While the data sources presented are examples from Japan, similar sources are expected to exist in other countries.
