Uterine Myoma
摘要
Uterine myomas, also known as leiomyomas or fibroids, are the most common benign uterine tumors, affecting 20–30% of women of reproductive age. These tumors are mainly composed of smooth muscle cells and connective tissue and are frequently discovered incidentally. The primary diagnostic tool for these tumors is ultrasonography, while MRI is crucial for detailed assessment, helping to determine the size, location, and number of tumors necessary for formulating a treatment plan. Myomas may undergo various types of degeneration, including hyaline, myxoid, cystic, and red degeneration, and complicate diagnosis as these can mimic malignant tumors, leading to potential misdiagnosis. This chapter provides an in-depth look at the imaging characteristics of myomas, their typical and atypical presentations, and discusses differential diagnoses to consider.
