Tuberculosis remains a major public health problem and is the most common fatal infectious disease in the world. Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) refers to disease outside the lungs. About 30–40% of cases of EPTB involve the urogenital organs. However, urogenital tuberculosis can be overlooked due to nonspecific symptoms, insidious onset, long latent period, and a lack of clinician awareness of the possibility of tuberculosis. Delay in diagnosis may lead to the disease progression, irreversible tissue and organ damage and chronic renal failure.
