Piezoelectric actuators have attracted a lot of interest because of their high accuracy, quick reaction time and small size, which make them perfect for a variety of applications, including situations with strong electric fields. However, to minimize nonlinearities, hysteresis and material fatigue and achieve maximum performance under such circumstances, sophisticated control systems are needed. To improve the performance and dependability of piezoelectric actuators in high electric field situations, this paper examines the status of modelling and control approaches currently in use. A comparison of these approaches and an insight into potential future research avenues targeted at enhancing the dependability and effectiveness of piezoelectric actuators in high electric field conditions are presented in the paper’s conclusion.
