Suzhi Education and General Education Course Development in Chinese Colleges and Universities
摘要
Suzhi education is an educational philosophy imbued with distinct Chinese characteristics and shares many similarities with Western liberal arts and general education. Since the 1990s, Suzhi education, intertwined with liberal arts and general education, has sparked a transformative shift in the educational ideology of Chinese universities, overhauls in the general education curriculum framework, and significant changes in talent cultivation approaches. The general education courses, from the structuring of the curriculum to innovative pedagogical methods, have achieved notable success. This chapter will provide a comprehensive analysis of the essence of the Suzhi education philosophy, the overview of its implementation in Chinese higher education institutions, and the development status of the general education curriculum.
