This study investigates the effects of the “Bring Forth Your Inner Worth” module, which employs Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) approaches, on interpersonal communication, self-efficacy, and personal skills inside training at a special developmental facility in Sabah, Malaysia. This collaborative effort between academia and industry drives the integration of practical expertise with research-driven insights. Methodology: The study involved 18 participants encompassing trainers, teachers, and staff engaged with intellectually challenged individuals. The research comprised two workshops, followed by an observational phase to evaluate the application of workshop content. Assessments conducted before and after the training measured changes in knowledge and skills, while interviews offered insights into participants’ experiences and perceived benefits. Results: Initial assessments revealed low baseline knowledge, which improved significantly after training. Participants showed increased self-confidence, better emotional regulation, and enhanced interpersonal communication. The practical on-the-job observations and real-time feedback were highly valued. Interviews highlighted a need for continued training in critical thinking and communication skills. Interpretations: The study underscores the value of customized training programs that integrate NLP techniques and focus on practical applications. The module’s effectiveness is evident in the increased engagement and positive behavioral changes observed, contributing to improved self-perception and work methodologies. Conclusion: This action-based study highlights effective training methodologies for developing essential skills and competencies, particularly relevant post-pandemic for improving interpersonal communication and personal skills. It emphasizes the importance of practical application and individualized training while suggesting future research with larger sample sizes and objective measures to further enhance skill development.
