摘要

The fruits of internationalisation have long been distributed unevenly, and the reforms envisaged under India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 constitute a programme of epochal redress. Against a background of seismic global change, there are myriad wider implications for transnational and international education, but it remains evident that the role of higher education has never been more vital in building societal resilience and addressing Sustainable Development Goals. To provide a complementary lens on discussions around India’s drive to internationalisation of higher education, this chapter discusses the University of London and the constellation of systems that have underpinned its global programme of delivery for nearly 200 years, underscoring the absolute criticality of adaptable systems for quality and connection. UK higher education brings a wealth of opportunity, but it must exercise caution to complement local provision rather than threaten it, whether through the sophisticated collaborations that underpin global citizenship education, or in the work of various UK providers, including the University of London, to align with local priorities in education.
