A Western civilization that once revered the lion, through the power of cultural globalization, has now spread this primal object of worship worldwide, even to regions where lions are not indigenous. In contrast, an ancient East Asian civilization that worshipped the divine bear has, due to profound changes and cultural shifts over time, experienced a disconnection from and loss of its indigenous cultural roots, leading to widespread cultural forgetfulness. It is hoped that the newly unearthed bear dragon idol will not only stir excitement among antique jade collectors and the artifact auction market generally but also inspire the descendants of Yan and Huang to reconnect with their roots. This may lead to a rediscovery of the long-lost indigenous totems and their mythological significance.
