This chapter introduces the readers to the background of the environmental movement, Backsilmove. The global environmental crisis has put Indonesia at risk, and youth activists have emerged in different locations across the country, demonstrating their transformative collective actions to safeguard the environment. Established by young people who are concerned about environmental problems, Backsilmove is a grassroots movement that leads social change through varied actions. The initial key question regarding how this group of environmental activists originated is answered through a framework of sociological concepts, namely, habitus, social capital, cultural capital, field, and a feel for the game. These rarely explored concepts are also discussed in this chapter.
