This chapter introduces the definition, overall framework, developmental trajectory, and current construction status of smart cities. It proposes that the smart digital city represents a new evolutionary form of the smart city. The chapter further analyzes key challenges encountered in smart city development and outlines corresponding strategies for future advancement, including anticipated development trends and recommended pathways for smart city construction.
