Performance Enhancement of PTSC by Using Rib Turbulators Inside the Absorber
摘要
A numerical investigation was conducted to enhance the efficiency of parabolic trough solar collectors (PTSCs) by incorporating rib turbulators within the absorber. The turbulence in fluid flow is enhanced by the ribs, promoting mixing that enhances heat transfer and consequently improves the PTSC’s efficiency. The lower section of the absorber utilizes ribs due to the concentration of solar flux in this area. Thermal analysis of the PTSC receiver was performed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The concentrated solar flux on the PTSC receiver was calculated using ray tracing simulations. The results have been compared for the PTSC with modified receiver with the conventional PTSC across the flow parameters considered in this study. The findings indicate a notable enhancement in the thermal transfer efficiency of the PTSC receiver. The overall performance of the collector saw an increase of up to 1.2% in efficiency.
