Experimental Investigation of Gasoline Engine Fueled by Propanol and Butanol Gasoline Blends
摘要
This study investigated the use of propanol and butanol as alternatives for gasoline due to their similar properties. Experiments were conducted on a twin cylinder Tata Nano engine with MPFI system using 20% and 30% propanol-butanol blends under varying load conditions. CHNS analysis and fuel properties were taken for propanol and butanol gasoline blends. Experimental results showed improved combustion and engine performance, with increased brake thermal efficiency at while alcohol fuel ratio increased with gasoline. CO and HC emission decreased, while NO emission was increased with higher butanol content. Overall, butanol blends up to 30% can be used in spark ignition engines without any engine modification.
