This paper conducts an in-depth study from the perspective of emotional geography on the protection and renewal status of Tielu Village in Weicheng Town, Youxian District, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, under the background of rural revitalization strategy. Through methods such as field investigation, emotional map drawing, and questionnaire interviews, memories and emotions of villagers and tourists towards the village were collected, and the influence of emotional structure on the reproduction of village space was analyzed. The research found that the spatial structure characteristics of Tielu Village present a ‘group axis line’ pattern, and based on emotional geography, it proposed renewal concepts, deeply analyzing the existing problems of the village and suggesting protection and reshaping strategies. These strategies aim to protect the original spatial form and lifestyle of the village, ensuring the authenticity of the village layout, and on this basis, to reasonably set up and increase tourism projects and service facilities. The research also emphasizes starting from a holistic and temporal perspective, combining continuity protection with sustainable utilization methods, to protect historical elements from various historical periods and explore a dynamic protection and renewal model. In addition, this paper also explores the emotional perceptions of different groups towards the village, as well as how to enhance the village’s attractiveness and sustainability through renewal optimization strategies. The research results not only provide practical guidance for the protection and renewal of Tielu Village, but also offer new perspectives and methods for the study of emotional spaces in traditional villages and village renewal under rural revitalization strategies.
