Under the rapid development of information technology, virtual reality (VR) technology is widely used in the tourism industry, especially in ice and snow tourism as the immersive experience enriches the sensory experience of tourists. Taking the ice and snow tourism in Jilin Province, China as a research case, we explored how VR technology optimizes tourists’ immersive experiences. We adopted the advanced Activity Setting Experience and Benefit (ASEB) analysis to analyze the current situation of the ice and snow tourism market in Jilin Province and propose innovative solutions corresponding to the development of VR technology. The feasibility and potential benefits of these solutions were evaluated to provide a theoretical basis and practical guidance for the digital transformation of ice and snow tourism. The findings reveal the great potential of VR technology in enhancing tourists’ interactivity and engagement while pointing out its important role in enhancing the brand image and market competitiveness. The findings also emphasize the key role of technology innovation in tourism and provide strong technical and strategic recommendations for the future development of ice and snow tourism in Jilin Province. New solutions for the digital transformation of the tourism industry are also proposed.
