In thisConfrontation chapter, we discuss populism in the contextContext of historical and ideological dichotomies and political transitions in contemporary Greek politics (2012–2024). We approach (anti-)populism as a concept that dominates political and media rhetoricRhetoric and leads to new divisions. Based on the analysis of excerpts of parliamentary speeches and media interviews against perceived populism, our aim is to discuss accusatory rhetoricRhetoric against political positionings defined as populistPopulist, attested to in Greek political discoursePolitical discourse and media networks. We investigate its potential to construct rival politicians as populists and to determine ideological polarizationsPolarization.
