This chapter draws on Spinoza’sSpinoza theory ofAffectshope “affects,” specifically the emotions of fearAffectsfear and hope, to analyze the 2015 Greek election and referendum campaigns of the country’s two principal political parties: the radical left SΥRΙΖΑ and the conservative New DemocracyNew Democracy (ND) (NDNew Democracy (ND)). The analysis then turns to the 2019 and 2023 electoral campaigns, tracing the rhetoricalRhetoric and argumentative transformations in their political discoursePolitical discourse.
