Instrumentalizing Mass Media in Greek Politics: Political Satire, Dialogical Networks, and Digital Communities of Practice

In this chapter, we discuss highly mediated extracts of political discoursePolitical discourse (re)produced in the media. Positive in-group description and negative out-group presentation lie at the core of authored and anonymous texts and polylogical commentary promoting the division of participants based on bipolar distinctions such as those of nation-lovers and nation-traitors that recycle Greece’s polarized past. Thus, we examine media texts, serious and satiricalSatirical, as well as dialogical networksDialogical networks and polyloguesPolylogue/s referring to contemporary political incidents and personnel to illustrate the interconnection of political and media polarized rhetoricRhetoric in the Greek political scene.
