The increasing global population has led to a scarcity of fresh water, necessitating proper management of water resources. This chapter focuses on the design and estimation of stormwater drainage facilities for the Vijayapur City, India. The study investigates the potential problems that may arise on roads due to the absence of proper stormwater drainage, such as pothole formation and road surface rutting. By identifying major flooded areas and analyzing the issues specific to those locations, the chapter provides feasible solutions. The methodology includes the delineation of the catchment area using GIS software, extraction of contours from Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and the layout of the drainage system. The study determines the optimal location of catch basins to divert runoff into conduits, minimizing the time of outstanding water. Storm Cad software is used for model validation and computation. Data for analysis are obtained from IRC code books, and the discharge at the outflow is predicted based on the developed model. Additionally, the chapter proposes the design of a reservoir to collect stormwater during peak precipitation periods.

摘要
