The present study reports the use of modified sawdust for the removal of dye methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions. The study was conducted in batch mode. The effect of various important parameters such as pH, concentration, time and adsorbent dose was investigated for the removal of dye for optimization in the process. It was observed that the maximum removal of 99.6% was achieved at the lowest dye concentration of 25 ppm. The concentration which was used for further analysis was 30 ppm for magnetite sample and 25 ppm was used for grafted sample. The 0.2 mass was used to remove with the pH2. The equilibrium time was 46 min. The FTIR spectrum showed that the samples contained functional groups such as –OH, –CH3, –C–O, –C=O and Fe–O which played a role in the removal of MB.

摘要
