Examining the Efficacy of Lean Practices in Eliminating Construction Process Waste: A Social Network Analysis

The construction industry is rapidly evolving due to urbanization and infrastructure demands. However, this growth also leads to significant waste, causing time and cost overruns. Much of this waste stems from inefficient, non-value-adding processes such as overproduction, rework, and poor transportation, which lower profitability and productivity. Lean construction, adapted from manufacturing, offers a solution by minimizing waste and improving efficiency. Despite its potential, the lack of a structured framework aligning lean principles with specific types of construction waste hampers timely decision-making and sustainability efforts. This study evaluates the effectiveness of lean practices in reducing construction process waste through expert insights and social network analysis. A matrix was developed to assess various lean tools and techniques, with input from professionals in the CRIP sector. The study aims to provide a structured guide for industry professionals to enhance decision-making, improve value, reduce waste, and promote sustainable construction practices.
