Smart Urban Management: Innovations, Policies and Future Directions for Sustainable Cities
摘要
Existing issues in urban water management have worsened with increased urbanization coupled with increasing climate change impacts. The application of new innovations based on emerging technologies and data processing methods allows cities to develop innovative solutions to environmental issues. New water infrastructure depicted revolutionary changes with new digital technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins, and Edge Computing. The analysis comprises policy mechanisms for facilitating appropriate technology deployment in addition to governance and outreach options for the people. The chapter also analyzes the integration of smart water grids and predictive analytics technology for real-time observation, in addition to leak detection, quality management, and demand forecasting functions. The chapter also highlights that circular economy models need to go hand in hand with the inclusivity of stakeholders in all projects. Lastly, the chapter offers a strategic model that assists municipal planners, along with utility management staff and research professionals, in coming up with water systems that enable smart cities and resilience standards for climate.
