摘要

Water resource management is a critical issue globally, requiring efficient tracking and accountability. Traditional methods of managing water usage often face challenges related to transparency, data integrity, and resource allocation. Blockchain, along with smart contracts and decentralized storage systems like IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), presents innovative solutions to address these challenges. This chapter explores the use of Blockchain for transparent and immutable water resource management by securely recording water usage data. Smart contracts can automate compliance with water policies, enforce penalties for violations, and incentivize sustainable water practices. Water data can be stored on a decentralized storage system known as IPFS to ensure the integrity and accessibility of information while preventing data tampering. By integrating these technologies, real-time tracking and verification of water usage across industries and regions becomes possible, encouraging accountability and enhancing water conservation efforts. Blockchain-based solutions can significantly improve water resource management practices by providing a secure, transparent, and automated framework to ensure sustainability and better allocation of water resources. This chapter discusses the potential benefits, challenges, and practical applications of using Blockchain, smart contracts, and IPFS in the context of water sustainability. Finally, the chapter concludes with some future directions.
