It thus underscores the omnipresence of rhythm in natural and human world. Therefore, rhythm, being a crucial element of human existence, holds a significant place in human language. Rhythm means the measured movement or musical flow of language. It consists of the periodical recurrence of pauses and accents, producing a harmonious effect. Rhythm, being the patterns of different sounds within a language, is important in literature as well. For instance, the \(\mathop R\limits_\circ gveda\) , one of the oldest surviving texts, demonstrates that reciting the text requires adhering to specific articulation rules, which encompass distinct styles. As music is made up of two elements, time and tune, so is the modulation of speech. Speech is a conglomeration of rhythm, comprising voice modulation, expression and style. Though rhythm is all-pervasive, it varies with time and space. Rhythms are woven to form poetry. The beat, pace, and syllables of poetry are determined by its rhythm. Rhythm runs in the human mind, whether it is conscious or unconscious. Considering the innovations in the field of Music and Sound Therapy, rhythm has become an indispensable prerequisite of human existence. The paper aims to delineate the boundless occupancy of rhythm in Sanskrit literature and to some extent, human lives.
