Massive production of small sized coal fines of the size typically less than 1 mm is a common occurrence in the coal mines released during hydraulic fracturing jobs. These fines cause pore-throat blockages and accumulation leading to permeability reduction and equipment failures, negatively impacting CBM production which needs to be minimized. Coal fines gasification an effective technique for converting these fine coal particles to useful gas, which can be utilized by industries for various purposes. This beneficiation technique not only adds economic value to the accumulated coal fines and abandoned coal mines but also provides a clean source of renewable energy. This research paper emphasizes on the generation of various gases from coal fines utilizing microbial samples extracted from diverse soil samples from various terrains in the Indian context. This biogenic utilization of coal fines to generate methanogenic gases is viewed as a sustainable and attractive option for energy self-sufficiency and reducing India's dependence on imported fossil fuels.
