Online Teaching-Learning in Psychiatry: Opportunities, Challenges, and Best Practices
摘要
Online Psychiatric education dates back as early as invention of communication technology and gained momentum after the multimedia and Internet-enabled videoconferencing. It has been considered as a complement to existing methods but the real impetus derived from COVID-19 pandemic has propelled the innovation as well as adoption of online learning. This chapter attempts to briefly discuss the concept, relevance, and evolution of online education particularly in the context of psychiatry and briefly introduce online teaching-learning modalities, frameworks, and models across the globe with South Asian and Indian perspectives. The aim of this chapter is to review and discuss opportunities and challenges in online psychiatric education, best practices and future directions with brief recommendations to educators and institutes who would take up online education in psychiatry in days to come.
