Diagnosis and Quantification of Staining in Reinforced Concrete Structures Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)

The present study aimed to conduct a building inspection of an unfinished reinforced concrete structure using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to diagnose the main pathological manifestations. To graphically represent the degradation state of the façade, a damage map was developed in AutoCAD software, and to quantify the staining on the concrete structure of the façade, Photopea software was used. The results show that 21% of the total area of the analyzed concrete façade exhibits staining, primarily due to the presence of moisture. Other pathological manifestations were also identified, such as the delamination of the concrete cover exposing the reinforcement and concreting defects. It is believed that the applied methods were appropriate, as they offer an efficient and safe approach, enabling detailed identification of anomalies and the creation of maintenance plans to extend the building’s service life.
