Life cycle analysis (LCA) is a key tool in evaluating the environmental performance of forest bioresources destined for the construction sector. This study focuses on module A1 of the LCA, corresponding to the extraction and supply of raw materials. Detailed data on matter and energy consumptions associated with the forest harvesting of various wood species in Spain were collected, also integrating the quantification of the ecosystem services provided by these forests. The results show the differences between the environmental impacts and ecosystem benefits associated with the biomaterials from the different forest species studied, identifying those that present the best environmental values for the manufacture of construction products. This work offers a solid scientific basis to promote the sustainable management of forest resources and the environmental characterization of the different wood-producing species for the geographical context studied, as well as their impact on the environmental sustainability of the construction sector.

摘要
