Optimization of RIS-Empowered Wireless Communication Systems

In this chapter, we introduce efficient reflection optimization methods for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided wireless communication systems. To this end, we first consider the single-RIS-aided wireless system and optimize RIS reflection coefficients under the cases with perfect channel state information (CSI), imperfect CSI, and no CSI. Then, we present the new double- and multi-RIS-aided wireless systems and elaborate the cooperative RIS beamforming methods for optimizing the network performance.
