The chapter discusses the complexities involved in the Planning and Dimensioning of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) Networks. Before choosing the supported features of WiMAX that best fit the operator’s business model dimensioning and planning are essential. Several difficulties and challenges exist when comparing WiMAX network dimensioning and planning to traditional 2G/3G cellular network planning. This chapter discusses topics such as optimization of energy and delay of wireless sensor networks, V2X side link, link-level, and system-level simulation, Analysis of macro-diversity, Cross-Layer Resource Allocation Scheme for IEEE 802.16 Broadband Wireless Networks, optimization of multichannel allocation for hybrid overlay/underlay cognitive radio, controller placement problem for wireless SDN, interference mitigation scheme with D2D, Hybrid DSRC/WiMAX Technology, adaptive WiMAX network incorporating diverse transforms. This chapter also addresses the application of algorithms such as the Throughput Based Discovery Algorithm (TDA) that is used for D2D Discovery in PSN for Post-Disaster scenarios and the Genetic Algorithm for resource allocation problems in 5G UDN.
