Cross-border migration between Nepal and India is longstanding, with female migrants often accompanying their husbands or close relatives as part of their livelihood strategies. This chapter examines the health conditions of female migrants from Nepal and India, exploring how access to facilities at their destinations impacts their health. It also analyzes the nature of their jobs and the effects of migration on their physical, psychological, and reproductive health. The chapter focuses on Mahendranagar city in Nepal as the primary area of investigation for Indian women migrants choosing it as their destination. Simultaneously, the study aims to select women migrants originating from Mahendranagar who have moved to various cities in India as the sample group for analysis. Women migrants from different occupations in the study area are selected as the respondents. Field observation, case study analysis, and in-depth interviews with semi-structured questionnaires are developed as the qualitative methods for research analysis. To support the findings, quantitative data are also used to analyze the health situation of women migrants at their destination. Some of the data are used as a secondary source to support the study as well. Migration between Nepal and India can have mixed effects on the quality of women’s health. While there are potential benefits, there are also significant challenges that need to be addressed through collaborative efforts between both countries and relevant stakeholders. This study helps policymakers and researchers create a more equitable and supportive environment for women in foreign labour migration.

摘要
