Intersecting Struggles: Mental Health Challenges of Gadia Lohar Women, Rajasthan
摘要
This chapter explores the mental health challenges faced by Gadia Lohar tribe women in Rajasthan, India, due to homelessness, through the lens of Social Determinants of Health (SDH) theory and Intersectional theory. The chapter reveals how multiple factors—such as limited access to healthcare, economic instability, inadequate education, and poor living conditions—interact to exacerbate the mental health and well-being of these women. The intersection of gender with other social determinants creates compounded disadvantages, leading to cycles of poor health and social marginalization. The qualitative analysis of the 30 participants in Thanagazi tehsil in the Alwar district of Rajasthan of the said community highlights the need for targeted policy interventions that address these interconnected issues, emphasizing the importance of culturally sensitive healthcare, economic empowerment, education, and social inclusion to improve health outcomes for marginalized women.
